Expedition Combat Guide – A Must-Read for Kingshot Lords
Still confused about how Expedition Battles work?
This guide breaks down everything from troop formations and skill usage to winning strategies — from beginner basics to advanced tactics.
1. Troop Formation
-
Shieldmen: Frontline tanks that absorb incoming damage. Place them in the front row.
-
Cavalry: Fast-moving units that can reach the backline depending on the situation. Place in the middle row.
-
Archers: Main damage dealers with powerful ranged attacks. Place in the back row.
Proper formation is critical — if your front row collapses, the rest of your formation will fall quickly.
2. Turn-Based Combat System
Expedition battles are turn-based. Each round proceeds as follows:
-
Each side takes turns to attack.
-
Damage is calculated after each turn.
-
The side whose troops are completely wiped out first loses the battle.
3. Targeting Rules
-
Troops automatically target the front row first.
-
Once the front row is eliminated, they move to the middle, then the back row.
-
Cavalry units can directly target the backline with skills.
-
Some hero skills can target specific troop types or entire formations.
4. Casualties and Battle Report
-
After combat, troop losses are calculated based on the type of battle.
-
For example, attacking a fortress may result in 35% of attacking troops dying.
-
-
Wounded troops are sent to the Infirmary.
-
If the Infirmary is full, any additional wounded troops will die permanently.
5. Hero Skill Activation
-
When a hero is assigned to a unit, their Expedition Skills activate automatically.
-
Some skills activate based on chance.
-
Hero and troop types do not need to match for the skill to trigger.
-
Hero skills are separate from basic troop stats and appear as distinct entries in the battle report.
6. Rally vs. Defense Battles
Rally Battles:
-
Allows for significantly more troops compared to solo combat.
-
Up to 13 hero skills can be active:
-
9 from the rally leader
-
4 from participating allies
-
Defense Battles:
-
The defending Lord with the highest attribute bonus provides the defense buff.
-
Up to 4 hero skills from defenders can be applied.
7. Practical Strategy Tips
-
Use a high proportion of shieldmen to hold the front line.
-
Position archers and cavalry to maximize damage output while shieldmen absorb hits.
-
Aim for a balanced troop composition that leverages each unit’s strengths.
Important Tip for New Lords:
Many beginners rush into combat and suffer heavy troop losses.
Avoid unnecessary wars until you fully understand the mechanics and grow stronger.
There’s no need to fight until you're ready — and when you are, you’ll win decisively.
